Rang up my MP's London office, apparently there is a recess! what timing ehh??

Though probably best when they come back anyway as they will be right into debating the finance bill!
Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

Dont worry - the timing suits us down to the ground. Gives us time to get ducks in a row

The recess should improve your chance of seeing him. They
*should* be able to devote some more time to local surgeries.

              Letters to MP's

Sorry to ask again but I think my last post got overlooked on the bottom of a page - do we have a sort of pro forma letter detailing the timeline involved in this? Can I PM someone? DR?? Many thanks for your help. I am one of the many who reads the forum regulary but never really contributes - but without it I would have felt very isolated and totally overwhelmed - so thanks for everyones efforts!

have a look at this post but wouldnt quote it verbatim, your conversation to you MP is best being personal, not too professional. if they see lots of duplicate letters being sent to lots of MP's it looses its effectivness, just another spam campaign.

the simple message is - i am one of your constituents, HMRC screwed me and parliment, help!!

                  etc.
Sir Humphrey Applebly in front of the Select Committee, Summer 2008:
"Well its quite clear that contrary to what HMRC have not said, although of course taking into consideration what they might think they have said or indeed failed to say at the time which they should really have properly considered saying what they should have said, if indeed they might not have been been in a position to say anything at all, the whole notion of retrospection cannot be discussed in enough detail in circumstances when to do so, by definition, is a retrospective discussion about retrospective legislation; and therefore if discussed again at some point in the future, would clearly constitute a retrospective discussion about this retrospective discussion in relation to retrospective legislation, which may or perhaps may not lead to a situation whereby HMRC are still unaware of whether they should have said something that they did not say or indeed should have said either at the time of contemplation of the retrospective legislation, or indeed the retrospective discussion about the retrospective legislation.

Gauke: Ok thanks Sir Humphrey - thats very clear - so what we are doing is fine then.

Humphrey the cat throws up all over Timms' head.

                  Curtains.

You could try reading the judgement. It's very detailed.

There are 650 constituencies in this Country. There are 3000 people with this problem. If everybody wrote to their MP, each MP would get, on average, 4 or 5 letters. Some may get 10 others may get 2.
Your MP may not agree with your issues, but at least they will be aware of the problem. The majority of M P s don't even know or understand how this came about.

Don't feel isolated or overwhelmed as you say. It is very lonely, sitting alone, in front of a computer contemplating your fate. There is £300 million involved in this problem. We are individual 'little boys' How many 'little boys' does it take to make a 'BIG BOY'
