Also remember that Norway is horrendously expensive to work/live/stay in. What ever you think horrendously expensive is double it then you're about half way there.

Hmmm

Seems that unless take home pay is at least 70% - given the cost of living - it wont be worth it.
Oh well....

Can't be dark in the summer as they have the midnight sun.

Anyway I've been informed by a Norwegian that if you think it's windy and raining in the UK that's nothing.

I lived in Norway while on contract, Bergen to be exact. I did not find it that expensive to be off putting. 500 NOK tops buys you enough food for a couple for the month, unless you start eating out. Don't start comparing anything to the £.

It is a beautiful country, if you're not flying home every other weekend drive inland (reminded us of New Zealand). Buy alcohol from the government vin store, it's no more expensive than it is in the UK in so much as they don't sell cheap crappy sugar loaded drinks.

I used my UK Ltd out there still do in fact with the occasional job. Any agent telling you 50%, shoot them on principle, then negotiate. That is outrageous. 50% indeed. Saying Norway to them is like ringing the dinner bell.

If you're working with an oil company or a marine company as I did, ask them for assistance with the rent. My monthly rent of 15,000 was paid for me as was a daily allowance of 400 NOK, on top of my rate.

They have specifically said they will only pay a day rate and no other allowances.
What was your take home pay?

I know I said don't ask don't get, ok in 2006-7 I was netting a handsome 5 figured sum (yes £) per month after tax.
