If you are keen to do most of it yourself then you may be able to find someone who will do fixed price work for you so you can just pay to get some advice on setting up from them and get everything up and running. You will need to come back to them at the end of the company's year and get them to sort out the year end stuff and your self assessment etc.

Although going down the DIY route may seem cheaper initially, when you come to do the year end accounts you get hit with a big fee and suddenly you find that 12 x the monthly fee charged by some of the accountants wouldn't have been so bad after all.

The nice thing about paying an accountant monthly is that they are on a retainer so you can ask them for advice any time. They should also prevent you making costly mistakes in the running of your company, paying too much tax or getting fined for late/non delivery of the paperwork that is required.
