Countdown to the Agency Workers Regulations

We've been having lots of conversations with recruiters and hirers over the last 12 months regarding the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR), as well as with the contractors who work via ourselves.

The AWR becomes law in October this year and although it's not as big or scary as some commentators make out, there seems to be a great deal of misinformation amongst all the useful debate.

I must admit that we are seeing it as a positive but I wanted to find out what contractors actual think of the legislation.

How much do you know about it?

I think there was a thread on it before and Mal answered for those who work via Limited Companies and aren't caught by IR35.

The more the government interferers, the worse it becomes for contractors. Deregulation of the self-employed and service company law would do wonders for the country.

Good piont, particlulary as its the private sector that the Govt is relying on to aid the economies recovery.

One of the interesting things I've been hearing is that the UK is the only country that sees AWR as a negative. A lot of German contractors, for example, see this as something that will prevent cheaper, typically eastern european workers, undercutting them.
