Companies House Authentication Code

Trying to do my Annual return, and I've found two letters from previous years with the same authentication code, but it doesn't work. I've pressed the "I've forgotten my code" button (which I haven't), but that means waiting a week for a letter.

Does anybody know if they've recently changed the codes for some reason? Or perhaps the system just doesn't work on a Sunday.

I had a problem doing my VAT return on a Saturday last quarter. It stated my password which I hadn't changed didn't work and wouldn't reset it.

Eventually after telephoning them up on a weekday the damn thing just worked. They did absolutely nothing.

So I would try tomorrow about 9am then if it doesn't work get them to send you another one.


Edited to say: Once you sign on for one service on government gateway you are basically signed up for others using the same password.

Do you think the Government Gateway thingy is connected to Companies House? Because I have signed up for the former in the last year (for VAT).

GG and CH are unconnected. Is there a chance that your accountant may have changed your code? Maybe he files your accounts online and uses a standard code for all his clients.

OP, how did you get on with resolving this problem?

I've just had a similar experience in that my authentication code isn't working and wondered if I'm having the same issue you did.
