Working in Sweden, need some advice on what to do regards mobile phone

    Happy New Year All.

Hi all I'm very new to contracting and will be starting my first contract beginning February.

I have just set up my Ltd company and bank accounts etc.

I will be based 2 days in UK and 3 days in Sweden.
i have searched the forums and there are lots of mixed opinions and also very specific for UK but not really found the answer in simple terms.

I have an existing iphone with tesco.not going to be making many business calls as the on site will be using the landline.
when I'm in Sweden again use the landlines in office hours but when back at accommodation I will be be making a few calls in the evening to speak to wife as she wil do most my bookings. (paid in love! not an employee)

I know a phone in HMRC eyes has to be seen to differentiate business calls but this is why I need your opinions and ideas?

Do I get tesco to change the contract details to my LTD company? i never go over my minutes at the moment but want to minimise my expenditure also thought about pay as you go, one in Sweden and one in UK but its just a lot of hassle.

Or do I get a new cheapest business contract and then all calls on that phone are covered? i don't really want two phones and want to only keep my number that's been registered as my contact.

I'v looked at some contracts and as I will be in and out of Sweden every week the calls are not the cheapest.

so if anyone can advise what is the best thing to do that will really help. I'm on a rolling 6 month contract and don't want to commit to a year business tariff if I can avoid

many thanks all i have spent much time reading the forums and there is so much to learn.

    Thanks, Kal

The reason you can't find an answer because there isn't one.

If you are staying in a hotel then they should have broadband. So you and your missus should sign up for Skype accounts and talk to each other by Skype because it's free and you can do video calls. (There are other ones you can use but Skype is the easiest for non-technical people to understand).

Also it's not a good idea to contact your business on clients' phones. While your present client may tolerate this a lot don't and will block numbers particularly if you are dialling aboard.

I don't know why you are scared of having a business mobile contract - if you have set up a limited then it should out last any mobile contract. Plus if you are with a larger operator business tariffs of the same price tend to give you a lot more minutes then personal ones and cheaper foreign calls. (It's actually cheaper for me to call Europe from the UK via my mobile than via a landline in the day if I'm not using a calling card.) You only need to differentiate calls if the phone is in your personal name. As the phone won't be and the calls to your Missus involve business calls then that shouldn't be an issue.
