Has anyone thought about writing a MyCo company policy that states that there is a an option to have a car allowance? Whats the catch when companies do that? As the allowance is taxable I guess it doesnt make much difference to us!

A valid point!
A company car allowance is an option. This would be taxable. However, you can get dispensation from the Revenue so this is tax free. You do this by writing to the Revenue explaining the actual business cost of running you personal car.
Having said that the tax free mileage allowances achieve almost the same result in most cases (obviously depending on your business mileage claim).Comment
