    Closing myCo

    Hi,
First sorry i have not been here a while I have moved over to the darkside sometime ago, company is sitting there with no tranactions for ages apart from nominal business insurance.

If i want to close this i just empty the bank account and fill in a form DSC01?

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

And prepare final closing accounts to file with HMRC, ensuring you're withdrawing any money as tax efficiently as possible.

This is assuming the PAYE scheme and VAT registration have already been cancelled, and all taxes paid.

Its recommended you prepare final accounts, then apply for clearance from HMRC And then apply for close down to C House.

just write them a letter asking for clearance- no special forms required.

Why do you have to ask them for clearance? the bank account is empty and nothing is owing? (In My Case) YMMV

firstly it will mean they remove you from their records, otherwise they may still send you correspondence and secondly its recommended best practice

Are you referring to clearance as in applying for ESC C16? I imagine you referring to a letter to HMRC along the lines of "Dear HM, can I close my company down please?"

If you don't then their standard response may be to object to the striking off because they don't know if there is any tax outstanding. If you contact them first then things may go a bit more quickly.
