    Quote from the Judge

    His Honour Deemster Newey

"I treat Mr Jones' and Mr Morris' evidence with somewhat more caution. It appears to me that Mr Jones and Mr Morris both embellished their accounts to an extent."
Is that what's known as a euphemism?

I would say the $. It's a risk averse curency.
Or maybe actual gold bars, not the gold that is traded on an exchange, because if everything crashes, you would only hold gold on paper.

btw, maybe the Rogers comment was only a rumour, but the pound has been taking a beating this week.
'Orwell's 1984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual'. -

Surely not? Nor would HMRC embellish their account of Padmore...

Indeed. And if anyone can be bothered to look into it, outward investment in the UK is going down and this more than anything else is the worrying issue. I do recall a CIOT statement about this back in 2008. Q1 this year will be important. If it's negative growth then UK Plc has a BIG problem. If it's flatlined then we need CPR. If it's positive then it better look good. Us seadogs sometime refer to this period as the calm before the storm or the eye of the storm. Let's see....

I know I'm gonna get slated but...

I have only been following this forum since the get wrenching High court ruling and must admit have become a bit obessed with it. But could someone please explain to exactly what this Alan Jones character has to do in all of this!

Well the UK treasury are doing their utmost to try and convince the rest of the world they should be a socialist economy and that everyone pays their "fair" share and helps to reduce our debt burden, for some strange reason not everyone agrees with our government and HMRC's strategies. Surely it must be them thats wrong not our wonderful government and treasury

The rest of the world is flicking them the Vee's and putting their money elsewhere and who can blame them! Cant imagine the likes of PWC, KPMG, E&Y or Coopers recommending the UK to any of their client base, or for that matter any corporate bankers punting UK investment. They are ever so slightly hacked off with our government what with the bad press and 50% tax rate...so they are hardly going to recommend the UK

                Closure Notice

Think they finally got round to me and received my closure notice today (or 3 of the damn things).

What does NW need to sort this out? Do I photocopy or fax her every page? Or just provide the reference numbers etc?

Can she confirm when it has been dealt with? Previous correspondance required a fair amount of chasing although I do know they have been busy.

DR - thanks for all the effort you have put in!

                  No problem.

I'm trying to find out how NW prefers to receive the CNs. You do need to send everything though.

I just photocopied them for my own records, and sent her the originals.

assume the grounds for appeal will be different now the JR went against us

Why? We are appealing the JR decision.
