    BACS Payments

A mate has just changed accountants but although they will do all the accounts and payroll for his business they cannot do the BACS transfers for payroll or for supplier payments.

Is there a system he can use (he's not too pc savvy so would have to be simple) in which he can easily pay his employees weekly (ie get the list of payments per employee from his accountant and submit them to BACS somehow), and his suppliers monthly with the option to hold payments if needed.

He's going to ask his Bank but I thought I'd ask the folks here, so any ideas?

Can he not just get internet banking and process the payments that way? If he needs the accountant to do that he can be given restricted access rights. This is probably easier than BACS anyway.

He could but doesn't want to do each one individually (for employees, the amounts would be different each week depending on time worked, job grade etc), so something that would batch the payments is what he's looking for.

You can use a computer bureau to submit transactions on your behalf - for information, more than half of the organisations using the Bacs service make their Direct Debit and Bacs Direct Credit payment submissions through approved bureaux rather than submitting directly to Bacs. Your friend can find one here: http://www.bacs.co.uk/Bacs/Bureaux/R...dBureaux.aspxl

Alternatively, there are companies which provide specialist software enabling businesses to connect to the Bacs service. There is a list of Bacs approved software suppliers here:

        I hope this is helpful.

Best thing he could do is speak to his bank for advice and see what they will accept.
