Yes, I have read the BN66 thread and heard of most of those companies. I am no longer with that scheme, but not because I didn't think it was a good scheme.
My point is, Yes - there is a risk with any tax avoidance scheme - but just because they are being "investigated" doesn't mean the game is up. BN66 is also a seperate case - as HMRC are trying to apply legislation that they say BN66 has clarified - but that is only relavent to one particular type of scheme. There are many other types of schemes that have successfully defended thier schemes agaisnt HMRC and are continuing.

By the way, I'm not promoting any of these schemes, just pointing out that just beacuse you have an IOM scheme, doesn't automatically mean it is dodgy. Again, comes back to the level of risk that each individual is prepared to take on....
I do agree with you that everyone has to assess the risks themselves and I also agree not every one will fail. But on the whole most that get talked about on here carry a high amount of risk and people deserve to be warned.

I did a quick search for ASMG on here out of curiosity and the last posts on this link may be on interest to you http://forums.contractoruk.com/accou...21-asmg-8.html.

Correction to last post .. I missed the end of the thread - it would appear ASMG has gone into liquidation.

        Lewis,

No, I dont have a name....that would be the holy grail!

The end game is not in sight yet. But its also interesting to note that not many scheme providers have yet gone to court - correction - I am not aware of any that have gone to court. i.e HMRC have not actually challenged the scheme, that would require the scheme to go to court to appeal.

Also, as I understand, the first challenge is heard by the Special commisoner? And twice HMRC have been found against by the SP on these EBT schemes.

Also, thanks for the link to the ASMG thread...I have already been posting on that..

          thanks

Thanks all for the responses, food for thought anyway. I find it hard to believe HMRC have not found a way to shut these down but with the Brown inspired government funding crisis well under way I am sure they will redouble their efforts.
