I am a family man and my family is here in Belgium with me so I cannot leave from one day to the other....
Answers. Agreed point1. Be careful point 2, Connexion will give names you can be sure of that and you could be found anyway.I hope as they said that they will give a list with the contractors which are with them in March. Not for the previous years Point 3. It is getting to the uneconomic stage now, those that can go to the beach are probably already packing their bags.
I personally think the best solution is to open a ltd company than being just an independent professional. Doesn't make any sense to continue with Connexion.

I used a lawyer here once who looked and behaved like a rotweiler - I once had a dispute concerning unreturned deposit on a flat and it got to court - she literally ripped the other people to shreds. I am going to contact her.
Please if you find out that she can help feel free to let me know. I will give you an email address where you can send me the details
Thanks!! I will also try to find a tax advisor and I will let you know if he can be of any help

btw, something that Connexion is not telling us:
        It is not 75-25......but 75-20......the 5% is Connexion's fee!!!!!!
To tell you more we also pay some 120 euros per month for that accountant who is useless. He never helped me with the expenses and he preferred to put the 3000 euros forfait amount in order to not loose time with the calculations.
There are accountants who charge 300-400 in a year and not 1500 as he does!!!!
It really makes no sense to go on with this schema.

For what it counts (probably nothing) I told Connexion to not play with us.
They said that with the fine they got from BTA they were almost ready to close
Imagine what will happen if they get similar fines from France, Germany, Switzerland and all the other countries they work with.
If I find out they really f$$ked with me I will send letters and emails to all the TA of the above countries with concrete data and proves
If I sink they have to sink with me too.....

Yes I agree, the existing method with the accountant and Connexion is not the way forward.

Plus it is even worse than you suggest - there is an additional 1% to put your money into their NZ trust and if you use the debit card scheme, withdrawls are subject to a 2% charge..........

Like I had said since the beginning, they are simply comission salesmen.

I am told that an ltd /SPRL/BVBA is 8.2k to set up here though inc costs !

Surely the fact that it's in a box indicates to even the most stupid of people that this is a quote, without the need for excessive use of bold.

Or is this a subliminal way of re-inforcing to the readers the bleak outlook?

Yeah, I was forgetting about the 2% comission for the debit card in case of withdrawls...no need to bother with Connexion....it may be a bit costly to open a ltd/BVBA company but in a long run it will return some better tax rates (to investigate further)

                  .

Would you mind expanding on this – it seems to be a very specific number?

So all ‘14’ have, or are going to, open their books to the BTA? Even the ones with no Belgian presence?

I spoke to the owner of the company I used before going ltd, and they seemed convinced that they had not received any such demands from BTA and explained what their response would be if any such demand did arrive.

Personally, I would assume that the lack of clarity with this ‘deal’ has got a good chance of being down to various interested parties angling to maximize their cut. I am 100% convinced that there will be a lot of ‘poacher turned gamekeeper’ stuff going on from the Belgian end of things. I’m not with Connexions but I have the same bean counter as many of you and I am concerned that this is where much of the risk will lie (hint!)

                    Belgian Co.

I ran this past my Belgian mate who owns a Belgian Co. For me, it probably isn't worth it. But the figure of €8 - 10K isn't far off as most of that will be the deposit to run a BVA. If you're planning to hang around 3 years or more then it's worth pursuing.

There is a service in Brussels that he'd recommend visiting that will set you up inside 3 days; the cost is about €2K.

ContractorGR and fatboyContractor - tag team?

Why don't they just get a room (or maybe they already have???)

At least this means us poor blighters in the Fatherland aren't the only ones suffering.
