If you are based in Scotland, Campbell Dallas, would be the firm to go for (I work for them act for many IT Contractors).

Feel free to visit the website or PM me - if you require further details

            Another for Nixon Williams

Do Nixon Williams do some kind of monthly deal? I don't particularly like paying add hoc payments to acccountants, I prefer to pay an all in monthly fee and know exactly where I stand month to month.

The trouble is, I'm paying 145 quid a month at the moment and i STILL haven't had my 2007 -2008 figures done yet. In fact, I've just had a threatening letter from companies house telling me my annual return is late.

For this figure they are supposed to provide me with advice any time I want it along with producing my annual accounts, returns to companies house etc. The only thing I'm supposed to do is keep a record of all my expenses, and send them in together with my business account details at the end of the year or whenever.

What really galls me is the amount of times I have to email them to even prompt a response. Yes, I could pick up the phone but I'm abroad and it costs! I've had this sort of thing before from other accountants too so I am very wary about changing without doing a bit of homework.

Anyone out there know what is a reasonable monthly fee for an all in service? I can't help feeling that 145 is a bit steep even if they were doing there job correctly!

In my view £145 per month is very steep! I can only think that accountants charging this much know that they can get away with it with enough clients to have a very comfortable lifestyle!

Our fees are £60+VAT per month, which works out at £720+VAT per annum.

This covers all the usual services that your company will need such as annual accounts, PAYE returns, VAT, payroll etc.

If you're in London/the South, I can heartily recommend Brown & Co (www.brownco.co.uk) who have a crap website but great accountants who have helped me out with everything inc. crap agencies, IR35 etc.
