    Contracting in Ireland

    Folks,
I'm starting a first time(new) contract in Ireland. The Contract is with a Irish Agency (& then to a Irish Client) who is going to pay in Euros. The contract is for 6 months i.e 180 days.
Can you please advise on the following :
    A) Can my uk based limited company directly invoice the agency and at what UK vat rate.
a1) If I can invoice directly then for how long?. Once it crosses more than 183 days then should we tie up with a umbrella company
a2) If I invoice directly what all Irish taxes (Income, PRSI etc) do I become liable to ?
    ------------------------------------------------
    B) If I can't invoice directly then which is the best umbrella company in Ireland or can I route thro' a good UK based Umbrella company?

Any suggestions would be of great help.

    Thanks & Regards

I obtained a contract in Ireland last year but turned it down when I understood the tax consequences. I was advised you have to go on an Irish payroll immediately for the duration of the contract. Dont recall the tax rates but it wasnt great, higher rate tax kicked in at 28k euros if I remember.

Speak to a accountant or ubrella company (free advice!) is your best bet I imagine.

Not sure why you could not just invoice directly from the UK. I'm sure lots of companies in the UK do business in Ireland. If I were you though, i'd open a UK Euro or Irish Euro account and hang on to them.. sterlings going to take a battering especially if these muppets lower interest rates any time in the next 6 months.
