There are various checks we see from time to time in adverts: criminal record checks and Security clearance being two examples.

Is it possible for MyCo to pay for these checks for their employees (i.e. me)? Or is it too difficult and/or costly?

Any thoughts?

No, Security checks have to be done by a big whitelisted sponsoring company, you can't do them yourself.
