I think you are are wrong on two counts here.

I would hope that the number of people who understand how the scheme purports to work are in the thousands. i.e. all those who use it. Any users who don't understand this are likely in trouble.

For the 50, I guess you mean know the details and understand all the bits of law on which it stands or falls. I think here you are also wrong. . It's more likely to be 5 than 50. I'm pretty sure MontP will have some of them on board at least for initial qualified opinion. If nothing else that probably rules them out of the revenue case when it comes to it.

      MontP Circular

I get the impression that people feel a lot happier after receiving the circular. Hopefully MP will take note of this and be a bit more proactive with comms in future.

It's also good to see from the Poll that the vast majority of people are standing firm.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm looking forward to the

      Have a great weekend.

I think the reason it took hmrc 5 years to do anything was they didnt understand it. However when they finally did (or thought so), they realised ,against the odds, that it was watertight, hence bn66. Anyone for mass civil disobedience. what if NONE of us paid up.

On the contrary, I think HMRC did understand MP's scheme (to some degree anyway). They clearly gathered information to put 4 MP members forward as a test case. However, when their legal team looked into MP's responses to their (HMRC's ) arguments, they must have become convinced the test case would fail.

          That's why BN66 came about.

As for the details I bet there are a few who understand it. Montp have some on board - but so do the other schemes.

The other schemes are launching their own independent challenges.

[QUOTE=BrilloPad;609314]So far I (and no-one I know at montp) have received anything other than that the scheme switched from March 12th.

Maybe the scheme does not need anything else from us?

                  ---

Brillo - correspondence from MP DID confirm the above. i.e. that changes had been made to the scheme in anticipation of budgetary changes and that NO ACTION was required from clients. However, the changes were not explained.

MP have assured me that a letter will be going out to all consultants this week explaining how the new arrangement works. I won't be holding my breath though...
