MSCs since the change in the law?

Hi there, been advised that there has been a change in the law regarding certain types of composite umbrella companies, and that some agencies will not do business with those they say may not operate within the new legislation.

My question is why isnt this clear cut? How can the MSC type company (xxxx <mod note>best not mention names...</mod note>in this instance) reckon they are within the law, and the agencys say they dont agree?

There's been a bit of "head in the sand" going on at certain MSC's and I suspect this is what you are experiencing. If the agency supsects that the contractor is operating within an MSC they will not use the contractor because they can be liable for any tax due.
