Giant Payslips - the figures just don't add up?

Hi, this is my first post on here, so if I am raking old dirt, I apologise.

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Basically, I have used Giant since it went from Powerhouse to Strongbox, but recently, I cannot work out for the life of me the figures on a payslip.

Basically the NI & Tax make not sense what so ever

If I run through the taxable amount on any of the income tax websites on the net, they are coming out with a figure about £300 less than what I have been taxed? However, they are coming out with about £75 more NI?

I cannot get a straight answer out of the wonderful feedback system, and am getting cheesed off enough that I am looking at swapping umbrella company.

I do 600 miles a week travelling, yet on average I am only receiving 71% of my invoice amount?

    Is this normal?

    Hi Adamv6

Your take home pay can be affected by many factors so we would need to see the figures to be able to make comment

You will be paying employers as well as employees NI. That may account for the difference.

Without knowing the full figures including all of the expenses and total income, could not say whether 71% is reasonable.

71% via strongbox sounds reasonable, when I looked at them I was looking at more like 52%

I believe Giant incorrectly calculated my NI but they disagee. They calculated NI WEEKLY but paid MONTHLY so I paid extra NI (i.e. I paid NI as if I had earnt 1 month's money in one week). After months of letters to HMRC and Giant I eventually got a refund of Employees NI from HMRC but Giant would neither admit an error or refund Employers NI. They claimed I asked for it to be calculated weekly, which I think is irrelevant anyway as they paid me monthly. Then powerhouse closed down so they said there was no company that could refund me. Anyway after months of letters (and around 5 years of being their client; from the old IAS days) I just gave up and am no longer with them. Check your payslips, mine contained a month's work but had WEEKLY written in the top right hand corner.
