I think I am right in saying that under health and safety regulations, your employer is responsible for providing/paying for eye tests.

If contracting via an Umbrella company, the 'contractor' is technically an employee of the umbrella company. Correct?

Therefore is it realistic to get your umbrella company to pay for eye tests?

If anybody has looked into this, and/or successfully got an eye test paid for

Is it just the eye test that the Ltd can deduct ? Or can the cost/partial cost of new specs be put through ?

If the optical devices are wholly for the purposes of complying with The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations then the reasonable cost of the, fully or partially, can be reclaimed.

Do a search this topic has come up before. And an accountant made clear what s/he thought was a reasonable amount to reclaim.

My view is that last wednesday I had my eyes tested at Specsavers, it cost me £5, life is too short to worry about who I can get the £5 back from.
