Differences Between Umbrella Companies

Only difference between brolly companies financially is their fees
Parasol and a few of the other 'big' ones seem to charge about £30 per week and then there seems to be a string of companies offering their services at £20 per week.(approx)
Most of the brollies will offer very similar services in that they will pay you when the agency pays them - there is always some concern that the brolly will hold on to the contractors money to try and get an extra few days interest out of it - this is rubbish as the extra cash they make is offset by having to deal with dozens of irate contracts wanting to be paid.
with regards to holiday pay - rolled up is surely better as then you get the money in your account and you can earn interest on it - if you have non rolled up holiday pay then the brolly sits on your money earning interest on it.
so the DTI has got it dead wrong with trying to force this issue as the only people it benefits is the brolly company - your take home pay will be the same over the same period whether you get the holiday pay rolled up or paid with your final pay cheque.
the best advice you can have is to steer clear of brollies who push their expense dispensation at the initial contact stating you could get a return of 90% of your invoice value - this is invariable a lie to get you to sign up and when you get your first pay cheque at a very reasonable 60% and you call them they will say
"No expenses blah blah blah, week 1 tax code blah blah blah, 2 weekly payments in 1 tax week, blah blah blah"
anyway thats my 2 cents!Comment

IIRC, there were problems from there on here, so the URL automatically gets changed. It used to change to notagoodsite.com which is now a porn siteOriginally posted by THEPUMA View PostI've obviously been edited for some reason. I thought it might be quite a helpful site.
I don't even know what the site it, but I got a shock when I followed the link.Comment

will sjd and contractor umbrella stop using 'first time posters' to publicise themselves -- its becoming highly apparent ( to me anyway ) that this is a tactic they are using far too oftenComment

Shock Horror! Many newbies post asking advice about two of the most well known companies that contractors use!
More breaking news: newbies also post silly questions about expenses, it must be HMRC in disguise!
An no, I use neither, I have a Ltd and use Uptons for my accounts.Still InvoicingComment

It's like starting a new school with some of you lot. Thought forums like this was supposed to be a friendly place for advice. Are we not supposed to mention any company names? If so how can do we get to know about them.Comment
