    Changing Company Name?

Is it as simple as filling the form in at CH, then informing agent/accountant/HMRC or it more complicated than that?

I want to remove the "IT" from my comany name for IR35 reasons. (reduce chances of investigation)

It's easier at your year end, I think.

But yes, that's about it (plus pay your fees to CH). Mate of mine does it reasonably regularly.

But what makes you think having IT in the company name makes it any more likely or not to have an IR35 investigation?

On the other hand "Simon Harris IT" was never a fully thought out name to begin with.....

But in all seriousness I wouldn't worry too much. You will eventually get an aspect investigation anyway IT on your name or not. If they are happy everything is running correctly they will go find the next person, or if they aren't happy it may turn into a full blown IR35 investigation.

Either way join the PCG for IR35 insurance/get some IR35 insurance elsewhere and don't fret about it.

I've heard that HMRC particularly like to pickout IT contractors for these things.

I suppose Elan IT are bricking it after all they have IT in their name.

HMRC probably do like to choose IT contractors as a lot of them are simply using a Ltd to hide tax...lets face it more than a few here are not really businesses in their own right.

But they will look at a lot more than just the name.

I'd be more worried about a self assesment form with £87500k in dividends, salary of £5k...where the company made profit of £87,500 than just having IT in the name.

Which will be determined by the SIC code, not your company name.
