Should I have had something through the post telling me what to do? As I said I've had no contact from HMRC on this matter.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

This month's Self Assessments deadline is for the tax year ending 5th April 2007. Sounds like you became a director after that in which case your first return is due in before 31st January 2009, as far as I know.

I don't believe you can rely on HMRC sending you one however, as I had to ask them for one.

The 2007/08 Tax Return will be due by 31/10/08 is you submit it by paper, the 31/01/09 deadline will only be for returns submitted online.

I've got a feeling my last contract started on April 2nd and I would have set up my Ltd to coincide with that, would I have a return for just the 1 week or is it the salary/div dates (1 month after) that would be important?

Ooops, of course, cheers. Haven't got the hang of 2008 yet. Have corrected above.

Hmmm, well if that's the case maybe technically you should be completing one this month. Presumably you didn't receive any money in the first few days though, so you wouldn't have anything to declare on your SA. Actually I'm in the same position myself, although the company started several months before last April I didn't take anything out of it until after then, so I'm wondering whether I need to include my company in the Employers section at all. Anyone know?

In the Self-Employed section or Employed Section if it's your company?
