Why do some many people with very few posts come here just to ask about SJD and complain.
If I was suspicious I'd say its an organised campaign.
I am in no position to make loads of posts round the place, as I haven't the experience to help - in the future I probably will contribute more.
I'm asking this forum because I respect the opinions held here of fellow contractors and have done my research on this site as well as others, when making my decision to use SJD.
I'd be inclined to think there is a possibility that you old timers here have lots of experience and older LTD companies - thus your experience may be outdated, or less valid today.
I've posted before to ask if my expectations are realistic, people have agreed, and then on the other hand sing SJD's praises as an accountant with an "extra service level". (I didn't mention SJD though, as I wanted to avoid just slinging mud in a public forum when Im a new customer).
This isn't meant as a flame , or negative comment to you personally, but it is frustrating in respect of my opinion being apparantly less valid simple because I post little.
It's also disheartening to see people who have been with them since June and had loads of help.Last edited by Gary_Jones; 12 December 2007, 16:18.Comment

Personally I have had 4 years of great service from them.

Gary - as I said please do send me an email about your concerns - I can't do anything via a forum.P.S. What Spreadsheet? Revolutionising the contracting market again.Comment

I pay £64 a month for payroll, year end accounts etc though they do seem a tad busy due to price, but to be honest I probably get as good a service as I would for a £100 a month based on what I see posted about the more expensive outfits.Comment

Will do Simon , I posted in haste a little while taking a break at work.
I'm in the last week of a contract at the moment - and I don't have the time to devote to the problem, that I had last time. (I contacted you about 3 months ago - by email).
Also if I'm honest I'm a little embarrassed, we've been through all this and everyone was very pleasant - but I'm in the same position, if anything some of my "concerns" have turned into greviences.
I'll mail as soon as I can.Comment

So, it may just be people with accounts already on here.Drivelling in TPD is not a mental health issue. We're just community blogging, that's all.

SJD Accountants
I have to say that I agree with Garry_Jones.
I have been with SJD for about 18 months and find the service - OK
Not great and not rubbish, just OK
It does feel a bit like an up market call center sometimes though.
Sometimes I do have as ask for things that I feel they should be just either doing or asking me. I also get the odd email from other peoples email addresses within SJD which I find a bit odd. Sometimes I get an email to say that the email system has been down and can I re-send any emails that I have sent over the last few days.
On another occasion I had to complain because my emails were either not being answered or just with one word replies.
Other times if I ask a specific question I receive a very specific answer with good advice. They are also not late on doing anything. My last accountant was late for three year ends in a row. Then I sacked her. She was very nice but Incompetant.
I think that the service just reflects different people at different offices.
Overall though the service is OK. Overall recommended.Comment

Hmm, since I am a completely new member perhaps I'll be thought to be part of a 'campaign' as well... But, by pure coincidence, I came onto this forum tonight to look for recommendations of a new accountant because after three months with SJD I am so dissatisfied with their service I'm leaving. I have been really disappointed by my whole experience with them - I won't bother going into the details here, but I certainly wouldn't recommend them.
If someone can suggest another reputable company, I would be most grateful.
Thanks,
