Contact agents

Do you contact the agents once you have submitted your cv to them based on the advertisement? I always believe that they would contact me first if I am a right candidate and they have real jobs on hand. Is it really worth asking them if they have received my cv? Somehow, I feel that they published fake jobs.

If you want the job and your cv matches the spec I always follow up the cv with a phone call. Can't do any harm.

I only follow up with a phone call if it looks like a perfect job that I really want.

An agent called me when i was in the middle of something. So we agreed that he would call me later this afternoon. By then, he hasn't called me back . I was thinking whether I should call him back to follow up. However, after reading all of your responses, I could tell he was fishing (no jobs at all).
