    Lost Reciept

Ok, so say you lost a reciept for a purchase. Nothing major £30 of ink cartridges.

How do you account for this in the accounts. I was thinking of entering it but not reclaiming the VAT (as no vat reciept). The credit card statement (company) shows the place (staples) etc so its fairly ovbious what it is.

Or should I pay the £12 to the company to cancel out the need for the entry in the accounts.

Accountant was on lunch and his assistant didnt have a scooby.

I put mine into the accounts and don't claim the VAT back. Put a comment in the accounts somewhere (mine are all in a spreadsheet) that says missing receipt, so at least the accountant knows not to look for it in the pile of papers he gets at year end.
