I've had nothing but trouble from Cater-Allen and I'm not even one of their customers.
I originally signed up for a bank account but decided to abort the process after 3 weeks of waiting and managed to get it all done in an hour at HSBC.
Problem was that CA decided they would still create the account and cash my opening cheque. I got sent the cheque books etc for an account I never wanted.
Phoned again and they were very sorry and they would send me a cheque and close the account.
Trouble is that the original cheque was a personal one, but they sent me one in the LTD company name. No good to me as my HSBC account will charge me for paying it in.
Phoned again, very sorry again. But the onus is on me, I have to write a letter to CA to explain I want the cheque in my name.
All this hassle for an account I never really wanted!!
I have had nothing but a polite and efficient service from Cater Allen and I'm not joking.
Apart from the tenner they robbed from my account!
I believe that CA charge £10 (on a reserve account) if there are more than 30 transactions on your account in a calendar month. I'm running at about 15 transactions per month and so far haven't been charged any fees at all.

Good choice of bank then?
I have had my account with Cater Allen for a few months now and very happy with it. I did set my account up in January instead of waiting to the last minute.
