seems some confusion I am a girl and I am buying the ring for myself!

I may have to just but it and pay the VAT to avoid the attention from IR

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

You could buy it through the company and take a BIK charge for the usage. Wouldn't like to argue about reclaiming the VAT though. You could then revalue the asset to it's trade price and sell it to yourself effectively saving the CT on the depreciation.

This would probably make your accountant and IR somewhat unhappy but ultimately what the IR can do may be limited.

There are some special rules. Start here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/employers/ebi...-placed-01.htm
