Just been on the phone to bank, and they asked about my job.

I said I was 'self-employed'. Or should I have said 'employed' (i.e. by my limited company).

Sorry if this has been covered ad nauseam.

    You're a company director.

"Self employed" to me means "sole trader", but I'm not sure if everybody sees it that way.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

does being 'company director' make you employed by your limited?

I think it's a bit misleading to say you are an employee, even if it's technically true.

My bank still have me down as an employee for my old permie job and the salary I was on about 5 years ago. They've never asked, so I've never told. I'd be a bit worried that if I did they might decide I was a greater risk and take away my overdraft facility and make it harder to take out loans. Not that I need to these days, but I like having options.

This is a good question I've been meaning to ask for a while.. when I got my last tenancy agreement I was unsure what to put down, I had no end of aggravation as the retard letting agent couldn't really deal with someone who wasn't either employed or unemployed sorted in the end just a right bunch of arse at the time.

If i put down i was Employed, they then ask for last 3 months payslips.. which of course doesn't reflect my true income..

If I had put down self-employed then they want last years accounts, which I hadn't got as I have not been running myco for that long..ended up with using a guarantor which was tulipe

Luckilly I'm earning so much feckin cash right now i have no need for credit cards, loans etc
          mmmmm stella
