Dry Cleaning Expenses

I've not seen this covered on any other threads, does any one else claim for the dry cleaning of suits, etc?

I don't choose to wear shirts, ties, suits, etc, it's a requirement of the client, therefore a business requirement.

Interested to hear if anyone has put this through the books as an expense.

No. You can't claim for the suit itself so i'd be skeptical about claiming for the dry cleaning.

If you are operating through a limited co and hoping to be IR35 friendly, not sure you want to promote the fact that the client tells you what you must wear!

I suspect you can claim for uniforms...so how about ordering suits with your company logo on the inside of the jacket and make that your company uniform.

It's just standard business dress, rather than something the client specifies.

It doesn't seem reasonable to me that a tradesman can claim for overalls, boots, etc when a white collar equivalent can't do likewise for business purposes.

you can only claim for PPE (personal protective equipment) dry cleaning costs. These being high viz vests/coats etc

You shouldn't be getting your suits drycleaned that often. It ruins the fabric.
