Its good to know that there are still people out there that reinforce the stereotype of contractors being up their own arse.

Im asking these questions as I DONT KNOW THE ANSWERS you twat. If I knew all the answers I would have registered as malvolio and then patronised newbs on a whim.

Perhaps if you posted up a link to what defines an MSC and what defines an umbrella it may have helped me and others looking for the info.

Either way my mind is made up (mostly to not bother with this forum again) so thanks to those that helped and a kick up the arse to malvolio for being less than helpful.

Your call, I could care less. The difference between the two is all over these boards, in great detail, including the sticky at the head of the page under the heading "Should I trade as a Limited Company, umbrella or composite ", which is a bit of a clue. Why should we try to educate people who can't be bothered to look? However...

Umbrella - you are their employee, you follow their rules, you have no rights, you fund their whole operation, you pay them for the privilege.

MSC - they and you agree to pretend that you own a LtdCo in which you have no interest, you pay them for the privilege. No point is using them now, so ignore them

LtdCo - You make the decisions, you take the risks, you keep all the money.

Now tell me you didn't already know that. And if you didn't you are probably in the wrong game.
