I had a similar thing two years ago. And got back 6500 euros. Took about 6 months to get the money off them but it was free money as far as I was concerned!Comment

My dad retired to Spain about 10 years ago (I’m off to see him tomorrow for 4 days funny enough) He was a rocket propulsion expert and had done enough in his time to retire early and enjoy the simple life, to keep him active he does the odd job painting villa's, cleaning friends pools, the odd airport run etc, etc, in the end he was making a fair whack so being an honest bloke he decided to contact the local tax office to find out how to do it all above board, so he explained the situation to the Spanish tax man and was told "why bother, no one else does" now that’s the sort of country I’d like to live in
