    Is it illegal....

To lie on a mortgage application?

Doing an on-line application and I am beign asked if I am a director. Saying yes means they want 12 months of accounts, saying no means they only want 1.

Suggestions (other than speak to Contractor Money as I have decided that they are useless).

If you sign anything that you know to be false then I think that you could be done for fraud.

In the case of a mortgage I would imagine that they only really care about wether or not they get their money back so it might not matter.

It is very easy for them to find out whether or not you are a director though.

Resign, fill in form and then re-appoint yourself

They only seem to suggest the one mortgage company. Don't listen to my requirements.

Asked them for a place that doesnt need:

          * Any personal accounts (all paper ones are shredded)
          * NOT 6/12 months of trading
          * No utility bills (i live with the parents and anything in my name is all online e-billing so no bill posted)

Also asked them to find out how much I would qualify for on a mortgage but said I was looking at around £170,00 but was interested to know the maximum so they just got a illustration for £170,000 even through I could get more....which is what I wanted to know.

So in short I just don't think that they listen.

It is possible to lie on a mortgage application and get away with it, but you need to have some friends in low places - like No. 10.

Saying no to being a Director means what ? That you're a permie or sole trader? Surely most mortgage lenders would want some proof that you have the income necessary to pay the mortgage. I presume they're asking for a years accounts because Directors get paid infrequently and they'd have to see your total renumeration, although as a permie I was asked for at least 6 months of payslips to prove my income.

They want one months payslips from a permie.

I'm not asking for a big ask here in terms of mortgage.

Repayments of £1000/month. Current rate of £250/day just got a 10 monther signed.

Plan B (HGV driver) is good for £2500/month in a worst case scenario so could pay the mortgage.

I can defintaly afford it, just seems that its harder to get a mortgage when a director and if you are a director and under 25 then your in real dodgy waters.

Seems a bit odd. How many months have you got, that would support your application?

Just do a self-cert mortgage - no questions asked then. Seems strange that you can't get one in this era of the most lax lending requirements ever!

Only been a contractor since October. Permie before that but not getting paid anything like what I need to pay the mortgage as I was on a grad training scheme.
