They charge £15/month for payroll and £350 for end of year tax return.

I think 1st Contact and Giant are a total rip-off and are cashing in on the fact that there is a lot of change on at the moment, I reckon you're better off going straight to an accountant and looking into getting external IR35 insurance.

Thanks everyone for this open advice. I am one fo those contractors who is looking forward to join Nixon Williams, so went through their site.

During such a curcial state of change, I thought it would give better confidence if Nixon Willimas have mentioned about the qualifications of their staff backing their accountacy company or a brief of their experience with qualifications, that would boost the confidence of people like me. This will give us a real peace of mind with feeling that we are in safe hands.

Hope, Alan (Nixon Williams) will take this feedback as a constructive one and make some changes to their website.

      Cheers

Also consider whether or not the accoutants are VAT registered. The added VAT is a real cost if you aren't VAT registered or if you are on the VAT flat rate scheme (as is beneficial for most IT contractors). For example, a VAT registered accountant charging £65 per month costs you £76.38, whereas a non-VAT registered accountant charging £75 per months costs you just £75. So if you are comparing prices, remember to consider VAT. Of course if you are VAT registered and not on the flat rate scheme, then the VAT would be reclaimable.

I will see about making the changes!

I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), since 1990 and our other staff have differing levels of qualifications and experience.

Sadly, an accountancy qualification is no guarantee that you will be in safe hands!

            Hi Alan,

I really appreciate your attitude in the way you have taken this feedback.

".......in safe hands..." Coming to this point, I definitely accept your opinion, just qualification doesn't ensure us to feel we are in safe hands. I think I was wrong in the way I have put the words. It's more a kind of dedication and customer orientation along with sound knowledge of the work would make us (atleast me) feel confident about any company. To initially get the feel of the company, I thought it would make it a bit relevant if in the "about us" section if you include some details. Although you dont need to include about each one fo the staff working in the company but atleast people like you, for example "Alan - He posses around 17 years of accountacy experience etc... is memeber of CIMA since 1990...etc... so on..."

Atleast for me while reading this, would give me little bit more confidence. Although it is a little bit, if I were you I would consider as it doesn't take much to modify the content on the page of your existing website.

            Thanks a lot

            Cheers

I saw some fairytale movie based on Metterlinch (not sure how do u English people spell that name). "Blue bird" was original name of the play. It was personage in it - Bread. Nice fat guy but a bid stupid and always alarmed. Then some major disaster was happening he was runing forth and back asking another guys (who was running away in some certain directions) - Please tell me where to run....

He was eaten by the end...

But what I am talking about.. I'd imagine if someone will put a nice signpost to a cave with living devil in it saying "Way to escape. EscapeOne Ltd. We are members of RSBE (Royal Society of Bread Eaters) since 1990" he will definitely jump into it.. And as result be eaten a bit earlier...
