Is there any advantage ( pricewise) to choose an accountant that has an office in your city ? ( So that you can save money from postage and have them close to you )

Apart from postage what will you save? Mine is 100 miles from where I live and it just isn't an issue. You never have to see them anyway.
Unless your middle name is Scrooge, just find a good accountant who deals with contractors. I can recommend www.nixonwilliams.com"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero -
No advantage to having them close to you in terms of cost. Arguably there is an advantage of being able to 'pop-in' to discuss issues, but that purely depends on what type of person you are. If you are happy to conduct your affairs via email, phone and letter then okay.Originally posted by 2ukIs there any advantage ( pricewise) to choose an accountant that has an office in your city ? I prefer the personal face-to-face approach but thats my choice and it won't suit everyoneComment

I prefer the face-to-face approach myself. Mine is only 10miles from me. i like it. It just feels abit more real. I still use post to send him stuff, like documents recieved from HMRC and stuff.
Plus the mileage i do to see him is a business expense

makes no difference whatsever
As long as he responds to your calls , emails then there is very little reason to meet your accountant personally
I have been with my accountant over 5 years and have met him just the once !Comment

As such there is no benefit in having the accountant in the same town. However, I prefer to have face to face meetings at least for first year of running the comapny.
then it will become a routine.Comment
