Has anyone used Clarke-Bell for MVL process since lockdown ? Their 30 day turnaround seems attractive although I am not aware of anyone using them in the recent past. Just looking for someone who have used them and got the funds in 30 days as they promise ?

I looked at them, but they cost more for the faster service.
If time is money then they are worth considering I guess."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

Hi
Yeah I used them. Last day contracting was 31st December 2019. By the time I got all my invoices paid and my accountants sorted out the necessary closure paperwork I appointed Clarke Bell around 12th February (don't have the exact date to hand). Full payment was made on 17th March (I remember that date!) so if it wasn't 30 days it was pretty close.
I found them very professional to deal with and the cost was roughly the same as MVL Online coming in around £1600. The reason I chose Clarke Bell over MVL was the promise of getting 100% of the funds before April 5th as there was huge uncertainty at the time regarding Entrpreneurs Relief. As it turns out the reduction of ER to £1m hasn't affected me but I'm happy with the decision I made at the time.
If it turns out that HMRC have an issue with my claim (incorrect VAT, Corp tax etc.) then I'll probably have to pay Clarke Bell extra to deal with that as they've not kept back any of my funds. My company was quite straightforward though so I'm hoping my accountant got it all right. Again, I'm comfortable with the reasons behind the decisions I took at the time.Comment
