    Company Christmas party abroad

Is there any reason not to claim a meal in a restaurant abroad as the company's annual dinner? Anything to stop me entering a whacking great restaurant receipt from that nice michellin starred restaurant in madrid (as long as its under £150 ph)?

The only thing I can think is that you would have to justify the whole trip as the company annual dinner, therefore the receipts would have to include the travel as well as the dinner receipt (which is unlikely to come in under £150 ph).

Any ideas? Accountants - what do you reckon?

I would say that it is a risk, the whole event is going to exceed £150/head and so the whole amount is taxable (not just the amount above £150) even if you only claimed for the meal, the Revenue will know (beacuse it is in Madrid) that you didn't drive there in the day.

Don't push your luck stay in the UK!
