    Advice required, be gentle please...

    Hey all.

Ok I'm in a bit of a mess and unsure what to do.

I basically started up my own company because a) I hate being in one place for 6 months, intended to move into contracting b) I do some work/consultancy on the side and it makes sense to bill it as a service thru the company.

So I formed the company via here, had it incorporated, setup Sage Instant accounts etc. I've done some work for which I billed the client for (3 days @ £1k per day). This was about 3 weeks ago.

However, I have now been offered a very good position, £excellent and they pay for some certs to boot. This position will last 1 year, I will be paid a fixed salary per annum and the company will handle all the tax / NI, etc. It will not go via my Ltd company. I probably will not have much time on my hands to do work outside as it is a very big project I will be working on.

Is it worth me getting an Accountant seeing as for next yr my income will be handled by my employer and I will have very little if any coming through my Ltd company? For most parts the Accountant will be paid for doing nothing as there will be no income / outgoings (perhaps expenses). I was thinking along the lines of claiming my ADSL, servers I have purchased for my Ltd company as expenses also.

It's worth adding that I have very little accounts/tax knowledge....

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

If its a year fixed contract then ask then to pay you through your Ltd.

You will fall inside IR35 but at least can get the 5% expenses so still some benefits.

It's not a contract as such. Simply put I am going to be there for a year only but effectively be a 'permie' for that year, i.e I get paid holiday, paid expenses (travel), etc.

Just wondering whether its worth it or not putting it through the Ltd.

If I don't how easy is it for me to do my own accounts for the year if there is hardly anything going through my books? I don't really want to pay an accountant for doing squat.
