Lazy accounting

I've been bad and forgot to pay salary out of business account into personal one before the end of the financial yr. I'm assuming it's my bad and irrespective of date and time on payslip it's when the money lands in your account?

I've not asked my accountant yet - just wanted to ask here first to see if I could get an answer before the weekend.

I've accrued for future salary payments before. I don't think there is a problem with that. In other words you can mark transactions after your year-end as belonging to the prior year (with some restrictions)

Assuming you or your accountant did the PAYE submission it'd be worse to not pay it as if it happened before the cut off. If you want to be anal about it you could call it a director's loan.

No issue, the key date from HMRC's perspective is the date the payroll was treated as being processed. Any time delay between that date and you physically taking the cash, it was just a debt to you. Indeed some people don't bother taking their salary regularly, just ad hoc lump sums based on whatever's built up.

Also, was slightly disappointed at this thread, I'd hoped "Lazy accounting" was the intriguing brand name of one of our new competitors...
