I contracted out of SERPS back in 1987,......

.....I have a pension pot associated with this, current pot around 60k.

What are the upcoming changes around contracted out pensions.

This is the pension experts forum? Right ??

    I recently read....

"Changes to contracting out from 6 April 2016
On 6 April 2016, the contracting-out rules will change so that if you’re currently contracted out*:

You’ll no longer be contracted out
You’ll pay more National Insurance (the standard amount of National Insurance)

*only applies to members of contracted-out defined benefit pension schemes"
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

I was contracted out. For one year. Eventually I rolled the money up into a larger pension pot.

If not forced back in, the sooner you get back in the better.

Though I have about 39 contracted in years now. Not bad for someone who is 52......

Snap I did the same around then but I contracted back in once I joined a company scheme a few year later
      I have a similar pot
      Mine is with the Pru

I intend to transfer it and another couple of DC schemes into a Sipp in the not too distant future, but just not right now because the Xfer value may not be too good.
So now I am worried, am I being deceived, just how much sugar is really in a spoon full!
