    Snap I did the same around then but I contracted back in once I joined a company scheme a few year later
    I have a similar pot
    Mine is with the Pru

    I intend to transfer it and another couple of DC schemes into a Sipp in the not too distant future, but just not right now because the Xfer value may not be too good.

    I was contracted out. For one year. Eventually I rolled the money up into a larger pension pot.

    If not forced back in, the sooner you get back in the better.

    Though I have about 39 contracted in years now. Not bad for someone who is 52......

    I recently read....

    "Changes to contracting out from 6 April 2016
    On 6 April 2016, the contracting-out rules will change so that if you’re currently contracted out*:

    You’ll no longer be contracted out
    You’ll pay more National Insurance (the standard amount of National Insurance)

    *only applies to members of contracted-out defined benefit pension schemes"
