Its not pollution just because you do not like what is being said.

Hope you get your free help sorted.

    Toodle pip.
Just so I'm clear, you say I have paid the wrong person and received the wrong advice with regards to the Australian tax specialist I have engaged:

You might find the correct answer more useful.
So, the Australian tax adviser is wrong in your opinion. What is the correct answer?

I'll clarify, you have chosen the wrong person / people to give you the advice, simples.
Who is the right person/persons to engage?

    EDIT:
Its not pollution just because you do not like what is being said.
I fully expected before asking my accountant and an Australian based UK/Oz tax adviser to be fully liable for all CGT and dividend tax in the UK.

What is it you think I want to hear?

Yes, I would be very surprised if the Australian specialist is right, however, this is just my worthless opinion.
I'm not qualified to advise on what's "right" and would never profess to be.

Have you tried posting on Accounting Web, they might be able to recommend a specialist to speak to?

Why not engage another Australian expert and see what they say? If the advice from two experts corresponds, then that might indicate either a common misconception or that the UK guy is wrong.

Then get another UK guy and see if he agrees with the first one. If they both agree, then that might indicate either a common misconception or that the Australian guys are wrong.

Then get another Australian expert and see what they say......

Or find one person with expertise in both countries and see what they say.

          Thanks for the reply.

I have done this with an Oz based company, but, the advice I received was contradictory.
I think I'll engage with a UK based firm with Australian expertise and see what we get.

Accountants have different opinions because UK tax law isn't straight forward.

So there is not one right answer.

So with advisors you pay your money and takes your choice....
