    Paying max pension contributions

I plan to invest 40k from my company direct into my SIPP provider.

I've never paid into a pension from my company before. I'm a bit confuse about the rule where the amount can only be up to your earnings for that year. Does that mean I need to pay £40k in salary to myself, or will divvies suffice?

    Thanks

The limit only applies to personal contributions not company ones.

Make sure that your pension provider is aware it is a company contribution.

Also be mindful of the lifetime limit if you are building up a large pot in a pension.

I have done this for the past couple of years.

My pension provider needed me to complete an employer contribution form.

I pay 18k a year anyway so needed to complete the form for the remaining 22k.
