A laptop is a business tool and obviously so, a mobile can be argued as a business necessity too with very little hassle.

Multiple electric bicycles (or 1 for that matter) aren't business critical or even business important, it's a nice to have alternative which you prefer when there are many other transport alternatives.
I do hope that HMRC see what you're trying to do as I'm sure even Hector enjoys a massive laugh as much as the rest of us, but be prepared after he's stop laughing for him to bend you over and not even bother to use lube. It's what you deserve.

Or you could just get insurance.

Of course, he could then point out that if the client is controlling your hours to the extent that you cannot be a few minutes late (and therefore you need another bike rather than using an alternative form of transport), then the level of direction and control is high so he'll be looking into whether you are caught by IR35...

At the end of the day, you've asked for advice and people have given it. You don't want to listen to that advice, and that's your prerogative. In all likelihood, you'll get away with your tax avoidance scam, because the chances of your company being investigated are low. However, if you are investigated you have no chance of surviving without paying back tax, interest and penalties.

You know the risks, so good luck with the consequences.

In addition, few avoiders stop at a single scam, they will push the boundaries on every single issue. When you get investigated and they find one transgression, they will not stop until they find them all.

I went to Apple store who told me to book an appointment, and then to tell me repair is not included in my 3 years extra care because it's water damage. It took me about 2 weeks to get it fixed.
Believe it or not, it wasn't positively received and I was way slower at work. There wasn't any lower expectation on the productivity even though I had to use a very old spare laptop.

In some instance I could lose a contract because of not having a spare laptop. Risk of that happening is minimal, but when it happens it can cost me my job.

              - The exact same principle applies to mobile phone. I'm planning to double it because risk is too big. You can call it insurance if you want..

In one post earlier you said 'I haven't been a contractor very long so I am still learning'

I would take issue with the second part of that statement.

And to be honest, there is no 'maybe', yes you are completely silly.

If your bike breaks, the short term replacement for your bike is surely either the bus or the car.

What are you going to do if you break your leg and can't cycle?

                  User a uni-pedal, half-broke, cheap-electric bike?

Maybe he could hire a riskshaw, or if he insists on the 2 wheel scenario a tandem with a driver?

Goodies 3 man tandem, driver, backup driver, him?

He already has two legs. It would be hard to justify another one.
