    Indeed. I spent many years doing the weekly commute. I've a great relationship with my now adult kids.

    For the OP - I used to live near Bath and got a contract in Kent. For various reasons, we moved to the east side of London. I then got a contract in Yeovil. While it's nice to be close to home (as I have been for the past 9 years), it's by no means guaranteed. I suggest you find somewhere you both like, that has reasonably good communications, and settle there.
