    New Laptop for Child

My 14yr old has "requested" a new laptop for her birthday/Christmas combined.

The only criteria that has been requested is a built in webcam.

    My criteria is ~£400.

    All help gratefully received

Staples had an offer on a few weeks back for a Core i3 that looked half decent spec for around that price. Nearly got one but went for a Vaio in the end. Check if its still on.

Edited - actually ignore, just checked the site and looks like its not there any more.

I got a terrific deal on a dual core 15.6" Lenovo laptop a few weeks back for £299. Keep an eye out for offers.

I deleted an email from HP this morining that claimed that they'd knock £150 off the price of a new laptop if you part exchange an old one - no matter how old. Doubtless there are Ts & Cs but it might be worth a look.

I love my Lenovo t43p to bits - proper business job.

But for relatives I recommend Toshiba - well made and you will get a good spec (dual core, 2GB etc) for £350 delivered no problems.
Check Play, laptopsdirect, amazon. Insight if you have a business.
Not Ebuyer - too many Acer Asus which will brick within 2-3 years.

No recommendations but a couple of suggestions:

                    1) Check Hot UK Deals

                    2) Check the Dell Outlet

                    3) Check your local Staples - my local regularly reduces laptops
