When on Earth did you ever hear anybody saying that? (Unless they were a Google employee, of course.)

I do think that Google are a very innovative and forward-thinking organisation, but so are a lot of other organisations - Apple, the BBC, the mobile operators, the games console manufacturers, and thousands of smaller companies and organisations, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Spotify, Facebook etc etc. It's an exciting time for technology and communication and information. You can steer clear of it if you want, but I'm just going to go along with it and enjoy the whole thing, before this whole sh-thouse goes up in flames, as Jim Morrison would say.

I hear it a lot from lofty, lefty 'useful idiots'. The same Mac-loving 'creative' crowd who fail to realise that they are neither particularly 'creative' nor part of a 'crowd' (outside their own 'headspace').

Ah, right, I see. And those are the sort of people who dismay you?

I was talking about this with someone the other day. How a lot of people claim that they do not embrace technology because...
        1. it is not cool
        2. it is made by giant corporations who have some sinister ulterior motive for getting people to use their technology
        3. they don't like to be associated in any way with the sort of people who like the product
        4. they saw it in an advert and they really hate it when people are brainwashed by adverts

I dunno what others think, but those sort of objections seem...
        1. self-restrictingly vain
        2. absurdly paranoid
        3. cripplingly misanthropic
        4. oddly out of touch with the modern world

Other people are dictating your lifestyle and choices, even though they don't know it and couldn't care less about you even if they did.

I was in the first batch of users (about 100,000 wasn't it?), but to be honest I didn't use it much - I played with it a couple of times, but I couldn't think of any way it might be useful to me.

I think it might be good for organising a trip or get-together with friends instead of a million emails floating around and people getting missed out when replying etc. Wave keeps everything in one place and encourages a more collaborative approach. But other than that it seems pretty pointless. I can't see it replacing email or instant messaging.

I hope nobody quotes this in a year when Wave has taken over the world.

You exhibit all of the traits of the self-regarding, self-hating, paranoid leftist.

SKA has now become self aware and is using all the spare bandwidth not being used for youpron downloads in bedsits right across the greater Birmingham area. It's sole aim to become the definitive database of websites that provide free links to pictures of ladies with their bakery goods on display. I believe it calls them winklinks or something similar.

I've not had the opportunity to try it yet, but I'm part of a development team which is dotted around all over the place and we tend to use Skype a lot. It looks like Wave would be a lot smoother to use for those kind of conversations which quickly get out of sync and confusing, and for adding in screengrabs and notes and so on.

In fact, I can think of loads of possibilities, many of which I'm sure are already possible with other software, but probably not all in one place like this.

I dunno. Have to wait till I've tried it first.

It's funny, I keep seeing notes like yours from people who were given access when they didn't particularly want it, and don't seem interested in the product... while loads of us are straining at the leash here to get going with it, and we can't get in.
