Stalin was worse. The reason this country is a lot better is because people did not keep their mouth shut when criticizing the Govt, it's totally essential to democracy to keep the scumbags in Govt on their toes.
You've learnt a lot on how to integrate...

The intention of Fixed Parliaments was to prevent exactly such convenient "snap" elections when the ruling party doing well in polls, totally wrong on that principle for Labour/LibDems to vote for it tomorrow.

The FTPA was always a publicity stunt, intended to provide some degree of market confidence in the early days of the Coalition, which was, of course, unprecedented territory for our FPTP Parliamentary democracy. Everyone in Parliament understood that the 2/3rd majority was a confidence trick and that repealing the FTPA only required a simple majority. Anyway, she won't be going that route, so there's little to complain about

And she had no power to change for greater good???

I say she just wants no checks on her power by getting high majority of elected MPs that owe her their seats.

It's classical power grab, the Tories are taking over!!!

The fixed term parliament thing was a bone for the Libdems, to convince them that the Tories were not going to cast them aside at the first opportunity. They were also given the concession of a vote on changing the voting system. The electorate binned that idea, thankfully.
