    I use them

GoUmbrella have been around for a couple of years and I have been using them for around 3 months now.
They pay me more than the last umbrella I was with, charge me less for the pleasure and even have a holiday fund for me!!! Never had that at the last one.
Have had no problems whatsoever with them and even met one of the directors as I was working in the area at the time.
A pleasure to deal with and very fast to respond to any queries I may have for them.
I wish I'd know about them when I started contracting a couple of years ago and hadn't wasted my time with the old Umbrella I was with.
Brooksons were mentioned in this thread also....would not touch them with a barge pole, I applied to them before GoUmbrella and they messed me about for 6 weeks before I told them where to go!
GoUmbrella signed me within a day at a better rate than Brooksons and accepted my Invoices immediately.
I will continue to use them for as long as I am an IT Contractor and would highly recommend their services to anyone.

Call me cynical if you like, but do you work for Go Umbrella?

Personally, I wouldn't touch an umbrella company with a bargepole.

So if they have a Director, they must be a limited company, right ? But no mention of anything like Go Umbrella at Companies House. If I were dealing with them I'd like to know what kind of 'thing' they are.

No-ones successfully answered my question yet - not even these 1 and 2 post spambots.

Honestly, unless you are thinking of contracting for less than a year, then a Ltd Co is the only sensible way of doing it,

Speak to one of the companies that specialise with IT contractors such as SJD or Nixon Williams.

You will ask them a lot of what you think are dumb questions in the first few months but they willl expect that. Once your first year is past, you will need no more support.

after doing my homework i think its SJD that im going for, then picking company name and buyin the domain name etc, if im going to own a ltd co, then id like to do things properly throughout.

hence why im probably up at 1.30am readin this bloody board!

Though on that note you are all extremely helpfull, and at times bloody hilarious!

                  Cheers

That is exactly what I did. Apparantly NW are cheaper, but I have never used them so i cannot do a thorough comparison.

So if you happen to know about them, then spill the beans on what exactly they are ?

I notice their domain name is maybe 18 months old, but what is the legal entity 'goumbrella' ?

It's certainly not a limited company and if it's a trading name for another firm or a sole trader then they should state this in their terms and conditions and contact details. I'm not impressed.
??? Their limited company details are displayed on their website, or at least I could see them...

Since malvolio mentioned it, I don't recall seeing company numbers on most websites and I have never displayed my limited company number on my own website as I didn't think it was a legal requirement? Can anyone confirm if this is right or not?
