Had a tulipe Netgear modem/router then replaced it with a DrayTek Vigor2710n nearly 2 years since, the DrayTek has been rock solid reliable with a mixture of Linux and WIndows XP/7 both wired and wireless.
TBH, most routers are either tulipe or not the problem. More often than not, its the wireless card in the laptop that is causing the issue regarding non connection.
not all of them no - actually only few netgear routers have broadcom chips.
The routers I've mentioned are recommended by xilo admins.
