which DVD rip application ?

    (1) DVDdecrypter - rip the whole disk's ISO image to your hard-drive
    (2) DVDshrink - rip the movie from the above image and squash to 4.3Gb ISO file
    (3) Burn image to DVD

    I never use Shrink to do my ripping and writing in one step, it just doesn't seem reliable when used that way.
